“I’m doing things I haven’t been able to do for many years.”

I was reluctant to see a back surgeon for fear of surgery. He recommended epidural injections and months later I was pain free. Almost two years later, I still live without back pain. I was so happy he didn’t push surgery on me.

The pain in my back started when I was 15. It got to the point where no matter what I did, nothing seemed to be helping. So, then I went to see Dr. Hyder. My hospital stay after surgery was supposed to be 3-4 days, but I was up and moving so well the next day that they sent me home. Highly recommended!

I couldn’t do anything—that’s how much pain I was in. But now I am three months out of surgery and the pain level is about 1 compared to a 20.

Dr. Hyder originally suggested a pain specialist, but it didn't fix the problem. So, I went back to him and scheduled the surgery. I feel great now, I can still do a lot of things. It’s amazing—and if I was given the choice to do it again, I would.

I would recommend Dr. Hyder for back and neck pain. He is very knowledgeable and is good at listening to the patient. He has a great bedside manner, too.

Working with Dr. Hyder

In the years before I worked with Dr. Hyder, I often heard from patients that "spine surgery only makes things worse." And I thought this was true. When I first interviewed with Dr. Hyder, I was skeptical of how great his patients were said to do post-operatively. But I have been working with him for three years now and can honestly say my mind was changed. Everything we do is minimally invasive, and it offers much better results than conventional surgeries. The majority of our patients go home the same day of or the day after surgery. I love to see the difference minimally invasive spine surgery makes in the lives of our patients.

At first my wife and I were both worried about the many things that could go wrong during surgery, but after listening to Dr. Hyder explain how both surgeries would be minimally invasive and much shorter recovery times, we were both relieved. Dr. Hyder and his nurse Dawn were very knowledgeable and took the time to answer all of our questions. My wife and I are back to work without any complications.

From the moment I met Dr. Hyder, I was at ease. He is very thorough, and takes the time to let you know what is going on with your body and what you want! I have seen 3 other surgeons, and he is the ONLY one I've felt comfortable even considering surgery.
